Meet Me Upstairs is a free, weekly dance party held in the Upstairs Lounge at Schubas. The event takes place on Fridays from 9pm to 1am. All are welcome.

Musician, DJ, and aural movement guide Jesse Sandwich has been promoting quality in nightlife through musical culture for over 13 years in Chicago. As a resident DJ and curator at some of Chicago’s more well known music establishments (Danny’s, Berlin, Sportsman’s Club, Estereo and currently The California Clipper) he began his career focusing on sonic atmospheres and moods. Selecting music to match and enhance vibrations of each space and scenario became the goal and inspiration behind his record collection and approach. Variety is essential, and the unknown or under-appreciated are particularly romanticized in his sets. As the current music supervisor and DJ booking manager at the California Clipper his focus is on uplifting local artists with a historic platform in Humboldt Park. He was involved in designing the sound system layout with the oversight and execution of Midnight Audio. The dj booth, dance floor, sonic arrangement space, and equipment were selected with intention and quality as the focus. Jesse has worked with local record label Star Creature Universal Vibrations, Numero Group, and has his own label under the AREAMAN CHICAGO name. With a recent unreleased track hitting the Boiler room stage this April, keep your eyes peeled for the next record by S&M due to be available this summer. Jesse believes in presence over precision and the power within the physical object. All artifacts hold, absorb, and release energy. For this reason Jesse primarily performs with vinyl records. The most important part of a dance party is the people there to listen and enjoy. His approach to a dance party is about fun, exploration, the unknown and being open minded.
