1. The Cinematic Orchestra – Every Day (2002) (runtime 54 minutes)
A contemporary masterpiece, “Every Day” breaks the mold with tracks representing genres including classic soul, jazz, electronica, downtempo, turntablism and more. Featured vocalists include Roots Manuva, and Fontella Bass (of “Rescue Me” fame, and a Chicago connection: she was a former singer with the Art Ensemble of Chicago).

2. Jamila Woods – Legacy! Legacy! (2019) (runtime 49 minutes)
The much acclaimed second studio album by Chicago-based musician and poet, Jamila Woods. Legacy! Legacy! is an exploration of R&B, funk, neo-soul, hip hop and more. Born out of a poetry assignment she gave her class at Young Chicago Authors, the album is a series of homages to artists that inspired Woods. 3. Recoil – SubHuman (2007) (61 minutes)
Alan Wilder is the artist behind Recoil, originally started as a side-project while he was a member of Depeche Mode. A classically trained musician, via Recoil, Wilder creates cinematic, textured soundscapes that cross genres like electronic, spoken-word, trip hop, blues, and industrial. A masterful, moody record.
