Meet Me Upstairs is a free, weekly dance party held in the Upstairs Lounge at Schubas. The event takes place on Fridays from 9pm to 1am. All are welcome.

During the Summer of 2020, Vibes on Logan founders Shazam Bangles, DJ Material and D.R.E.A.M. set out to create a socially distanced dance party, where vinyl DJ’s could uplift Chicago during the COVID-19 lockdowns. They were influenced by Sergio Castro, who had launched an outdoor jazz series called Live On Logan at the same time. VOL served as a godsend for Chicago partygoers because it provided a much needed respite during the darkest days of the pandemic.

What started off as a weekly masked event 4 years ago has spiraled into a DJ collective rooted in radical unity, joyful solidarity and intentional community-building with other Chicago creatives. VOL continues to shine light on the best vinyl DJs, food vendors, and record stores that Chicago has to offer.

Vibes on Logan has organized collaboration parties with other Chicago DJ collectives: Future Rootz, Slo’ Mo Party, Party Line on Vinyl, Del Pueblo Records, Cutz on Cuts, Sonorama and Vocalo Radio. VOL has also hosted notable popup vendors, artists, and record stores such as: Logan Oyster Social, Made in Chicago with Love, Shortys 312, The Chicago Lago, Miyagi Records.

As the 4th season comes to a close, some noteworthy Vibes On Logan guest DJs include: Mark Grusane, Tim Zawada, Jesse De La Pena, Shon Dervis, Esteban La Groue, Blesstonio, Afroqbano, Jesse Sandwich, All the Way Kay, and DJ Tess.

If you find yourself in Chicago’s Logan Square neighborhood on a Sunday during the summer, there is no better place to be than the corner of Logan Blvd and Rockwell St. VOL has expanded their indoor party productions and have been found spinning at the California Clipper, Schubas, Quality Time, and the Podlasie Club. D.R.E.A.M. is a purveyor of hypnotic dance grooves that create those feel-good vibrations. Having grown up going to roller rinks and basement house parties, D.R.E.A.M. possess a deep knowledge of Chicago dance culture. Today, his lived experience translates into sets that infuses this music history and takes you on a musical journey through dance classics and forgotten gems.

Born in Chicago during a visionary era of DJ culture, Michael Reuter, better known as Shazam Bangles, has consistently found sanctuary in music. Somewhat of a late bloomer, he quietly arrived on the scene nearly 20 years ago and quickly became a catalyst in helping to advance Chicago’s turntablist culture as a member of the influential scratch DJ crew, Cutz On Cuts. He has rocked stages and held his own alongside a wide array of people he looks up to such as Animal Collective, Big Boi (OutKast), Bonobo, DJ Krush, Edan, Invisibl Skratch Piklz, Nightmares On Wax, Prince Paul, People Under The Stairs, Washed Out, etc. He has held down many residencies throughout the city and can currently be found at Easy Does It for his Logan Square Disco dance party. He can also be heard rocking on the radio the first Friday of every month on 91.1 fm as part of Vocalo’s DJ Collective’s Friday Night DJ Series. He was selected to be part of the Collective after winning an open format “Quest For The Best” DJ Competition between some of Chicago’s finest talents in 2012. As the beat continues on…
